Resident Education

Resident education is at the heart of our program. Residents who train at the UMMC's Department of Radiology Residency Program graduate with a solid set of imaging skills and the ability to practice radiology in any setting they choose. Didactic sessions are held daily from noon-1 p.m. These sessions cover general radiology, radiology subspecialties, specific core and in-service topics, plus an extensive physics curriculum. Additionally, our residents benefit from valuable lectures and journal clubs during each subspecialty rotation.

Collaboration and teaching

With on-site supervision, students will learn vast imaging skills and the importance of patient care. Our program provides an opportunity to learn, while building collaborative relationships with attending physicians in the Department of Radiology and other medical fields. Build your teaching skills in our program while providing interactive education to our medical students and other learners.

Blend of radiology subspecialty

UMMC offers a residency training program that combines general radiology with on-demand radiology subspecialties. When you graduate our program, you will have the confidence and the know-how necessary for an independent practice as well as to move into a fellowship program of your choosing.

"I'm proud to have completed my residency training at UMMC. The excellent teaching and the volume and complexity of cases prepared me to succeed in my fellowship and practice. The department's dedication to patient care, education and research inspired me to return as a faculty member."
